I started my professional career 44 years ago 3rd August 1970 as an apprentice photographer with Michael Walters (MT Walters & Associates ).
Working in B/W lab and also assisted 3 photographers on location & commercial studio assignments.
The company specialised in Heavy Engineering and Civil Engineering & Construction photography throughout the UK.
The company operated from a purpose designed building with two large commercial studios where large consumer Kitchen and Bathroom set were built and photographed.
As my career developed under the guidance on Michael Walters he encouraged me to become a member of the BIPP. I gained my Licentiateship in 1974 followed by Associateship in 1978 and then Fellowship in 1982.
In 1984 I left MTWalters and formed ICS Photography. While I was still shoot in the Industrial sectors I moved more into Commercial & Advertising working alongside a graphic design company who I had a strong working relationship with. We served a wide range of companies throughout UK & Europe.
Over the years I have won numerous Print Competition Awards in all the main sectors, Industrial, Commercial/Advertising, Architectural, Press & PR, Illustrative & Studio Portraiture.
I was invited to join the PPQB Assessment team which was the joint Judging panels for the BIPP & MPA. Later after the demise of the PPQB I joined the MPA and continued to be part of the MPA Assessment panels, I then won the North East Region Photographer of the Year in 2012.
I’m very Honoured to be asked to be part of the 2017 Judging team. I regard it a great privilege to serve the MPA and contribute to keep our Professional standards at the highest level throughout the UK and across the globe.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the amazing Creative Images submitted by the MPA membership for our team to judge and I look forward to meeting the award winners at the 2017 Presentation Dinner in October.
